FYSP 182 - Traditions of Health and Disease in Folk and Conventional Medicine4 NS, Wri This course is canceled effective 11/13/2006 Second Semester. This seminar explores scientific and cultural dimensions of diseases, as well as approaches to their treatment taken by a number of societies, ancient and modern. Topics will include: definitions of health and disease; merits of folk remedies, ranging from botanicals and mineral baths to maggots and leeches; challenges of modern drug discovery; and self-medication efforts of animals.
