CLAS 101 - Homer’s Iliad and the Myths of Tragedy3 HU, WR First Semester. Critical study of Homer’s Iliad, the First example of the tragic perspective in western literature, selected tragic dramas by Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, Seneca, and Shakespeare, and some modern films. Attention to how the view of human experience established in these works serves to reflect and comment upon recurring themes in western civilization.
