HIST 285 - East Asia and the World Before 18003 SS, CD First semester. This course examines global connections in East Asia from the time of the silk road to 1800. We will study the exchange of culture, religion, and trade within the region, and its connection to the “West”. We will also study the major debates that assess Asia’s role in world history. Suggested preparation: an introductory survey course on Japanese, Chinese, or Korean history. Counts toward the East Asian Studies Major.
