FYSP 109 - Odysseys of Identity4HU, WRi First Semester. Students will read Homer's Odyssey and study series of works that evoke and reinterpret that work, including the Cohen brothers' O Brother Where Art Thou, Atwood's The Penelopiad, and Martel's The Life of Pi. We will interrogate the notion of the journey home as a structuring principle for narratives of identity, as well as the recurring problem of unreliable narrators in these works. Students will work extensively on their critical and composition skills. Prerequisites & Notes Enrollment Limit: 14. Mr. Ormand Credits: 4 hours |
