LATN 310 - Latin Love Elegy

First Semester.  Selections from the elegies of Tibullus, Propertius, Ovid, and Sulpicia, as well as relevant scholarly essays on and modern poetic interactions with these texts.  Special attention to critical theory, particularly genre, gender, and the poet’s representation of subjectivity.  Two exams, class presentation and a final paper.

Prerequisites: LATN 202 or equivalent.
