OCEAN 103 - American History IAn interpretive survey of American society, culture, and politics from the eve of European colonization through the close of Reconstruction. Emphasis on modes of historical analysis and important scholarly controversies. The course introduces students to a variety of approaches to the study of history, and develops student capacities to read both primary and secondary materials. Students write at least one research paper. Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisites: strong performance in previous social studies and English courses. Equivalent to History 103. Credits: 2 hours |
