CHIN 107 - Knight Errant in Chinese Film & Literature3 HU, CD New Course Added 04/25/2006 First Semester. How did kung fu films become the most popular forms of entertainment in East Asia? This course explores the literary and cinematic conventions of knight-errant (wuxia) films and fiction in China, tracing their trajectory from classical sources to contemporary Hong Kong and China. Through this genre one may gain a unique vista to the ideological inner workings of manhood, friendship, gender, nationalism, and enlightenment.
