HIST 108 - Russian History IINext Offered: 2008-09Semester Offered: Second Semester Credits (Range): 3 Hours Attribute: 3 SS, CD, WR Beginning with the reform era in mid-19th century, this course examines the processes that led to the revolutions of 1917 and the consolidation of Soviet power; the formation and nature of the Stalinist system; the Soviet experience of World War II and the origins of the Cold War; post-Stalin efforts at reform and factors which led to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991; the course ends with a brief consideration of the Yeltsin and Putin regimes.
