By drawing on the most influential historical and contemporary readings, this course addresses the central questions of ethics: What is morality? Why be moral? and, What does morality require of us? We will consider Utilitarian, Kantian, and Aristotelian viewpoints on what it is to be moral. Then we will consider the three main challenges to traditional ethical theory from feminism, environmentalism, and postmodernism. (V) v Enrollment Limit: 30. Instructor: K.
