RELG 109 - Introduction to Religion: Jerusalem: Negotiating Sacred SpaceSemester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 3 Hours Attribute: 3 HU, CD, WR This course will provide an introduction to the history of Jerusalem and to the many and varied religious groups within Judaism, Christianity and Islam who have laid claim to its sacredness. Jerusalem in progressive historical periods will be the model through which students will explore notions of sacred space, the ideology of cartography, apocalypticism, pilgrimage and the role of archaeology in “uncovering” and bolstering religious land claims.
