This interdisciplinary survey course will examine issues of gender and sexualities, including cultural politics, and constructions of masculinities and femininities, in the Middle East and North Africa. The course pays attention to regional contextualization, historicization, and plurality. This course fulfills the feminist theory requirement. Enrollment Limit: 30.

Prerequisite: GAWS 100, a gender-focused introductory course in sociology, or consent of instructor.
