The beginning and end of the twentieth (and continuing into the twenty-first) century mark two periods of large-scale immigration to the United States, each effecting profound changes in the country. From 1900 until 1924, millions of newcomers from southern and eastern Europe arrived. Immigration since 1965 has brought people mostly from Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. This course compares the two periods of immigration and their social, economic, and cultural consequences. Enrollment Limit: 30
