FYSP 187 - Death and the Art of DyingSemester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 4 Hours Attribute: 4 HU, CD, WRi If death is not upon us now, says Hamlet, then it will come later, and if not later, then now: being ready is what counts. But is there really an ars moriendi, an art to dying well, and does our understanding of death shape the way we live? Works of literature, philosophy, and visual art provide models of death for a comparative reflection on how different representations can lead us to re-imagine our own life and death. Enrollment Limit: 14. Instructor: J. Deppman |
