This course compares the emergence of “New Cinema” in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea since the 1980's. We will examine the major cultural and socio-political contexts in which each cinematic movement is produced, and pay attention to the specific issues raised in individual films. Enrollment Limit: 14.
