MHST 319 - Studies in Genre: The OratorioSemester Offered: Second Semester Credits (Range): 3 Hours An historical investigation of selected oratorios dating from the 17th century to the modern day. The critical study of individual works will be complemented by a consideration of the genre’s various contextual manifestations (e.g., as devotional work, opera substitute, national allegory, Elgar, and Vaughn Williams). Instructor: S. Plank Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisite: One 200-level music history course.
