This course examines the environmental history of the world since 1900 with a particular focus on Latin America, Asia and Africa. We use books, articles, films, and online media to illuminate the comparative and interdisciplinary possibilities of global environmental history. Our goals include exploring how to use historical knowledge in the formulation of policy recommendations and grassroots initiatives addressing contemporary environmental issues. Enrollment Limit: 40.
