MENA 273 - Islamic History and Theoretical Perspectives
This course examines the formation of Muslim philosophical and religious ethics as expounded by Muslim philosophers, theologians, jurists, exegetes and ethicists. The course deals with the Qur'anic and various other sources of moral systems in Islam, the resulting development of rational and traditional religious thoughts and their practical ramifications for moral theories and everyday life. Special attention will be given to traditional Islamic ethical responses to the challenges of modernity and globalization. Enrollment Limit: 25. |
