There have been many different models of activism that have impacted Korean society throughout its history. This seminar will explore some of those movements from modern Korean history into contemporary times, interrogating the concept of civil society. The course offers an opportunity to compare and contrast Korea’s experience with others around the world, as well as placing contemporary Korean movements and forms of activism in historical context.
