Coral reefs are dynamic systems that boast the greatest diversity on Earth. This interdisciplinary course considers the development of modern and fossil reefs over scales of millimeters to miles and minutes to millennia. It also examines recent reef decline against the backdrop of long term natural processes in order to understand the consequences of human stress and to address realistic mitigation strategies in light of increasing pollution and climate change.
