FYSP 166 - Under the Banner of Science: The Crusade Against Evolution

Semester Offered: First Semester
Credits (Range): 4 hours
Attribute: 4HU, WR
The teaching of evolutionary theory is under attack in many secondary school districts in the US. This course will research the history, science, politics and legal maneuvering of this particular conflict between science and religion. We will explore the structure of scientific research and methods in field and lab work in biology, the history of the creationist and intelligent design movements, and how the two sides in this debate are often talking past each other, with little common ground.
