LATN 202 - CiceroSemester Offered: Second Semester Credits (Range): 3 hours Attribute: 3HU, CD We will read together selections from Cicero’s speech prosecuting Verres, a corrupt senatorial governor of Sicily, and all of his speech in defense of the Greek poet Archias, given just after his consulship and the defeat of Cataline. Our main aim will be to read, understand, and enjoy Cicero’s Latin. We will also explore Cicero’s place in the history of the late Roman Republic and in the history of Latin prose writing. |
