The approach is interdisciplinary, with readings drawn from: perception and cognition (general and musical); ancient and modern philosophy and music theory; human development (ontogenetic and phylogenetic); cognitive neuroscience; cognitive linguistics; and musicology, including gender issues pertaining to music.
