We begin with a chronological overview, from ancient times to the present. Then we proceed topically, focusing on: politics and the state; political economy (industry and agriculture); gender; population; environment; public health; and cultural politics. We will also screen and discuss several films. Written work consists of two take-home, open-book essays, and weekly blogs.
