CAST 345 - Narratives of PassingThis course may also count for the major in (consult the program or department major requirements) : Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies Semester Offered: Second Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU, CD, WINT Is passing about pretending to be someone you are not, or is it about becoming someone different than you were before? This course uses passing as a paradigm to destabilize normative understandings of race, ethnicity, gender, class, and sexuality. Through literature and film about various forms of passing from the early 20th century through the present, we will analyze relationships between privilege and oppression, representation and performance, normativity and difference, and visible and invisible identities.
