Approaching the Cold War from a cultural perspective, this course examine how cinema, literature, music and the visual arts reflected this ideological and geopolitical battle. Focusing on the role of art after World War II, in the turbulent 1960s, during the detente era and the years before the U.S.S.R.'s collapse, we will explore how Soviet and American artists interpreted such conflicts as the space race, the arms race and the human rights movement. Lecture/Discussion Format. Taught in English.
