PHIL 232 - Philosophy of Film

This course examines the philosophical assumptions behind classical and contemporary film theory. Topics include the uniqueness of film as an art form, the nature of expression in film, realism, film authorship, whether there is a language of film, and the nature of film narrative. The aim of the course is to bring us to understand the nature of film and our engagement with it. Enrollment Limit: 30.
