In this course we will discuss the roots of Russian mythology, folklore, beliefs and traditions. Students will read Russian fairy tails, myths, songs and other materials and analyze them from the point of view of archetype, psychology, structural analysis and gender. The main aim of the course is to give a general picture of how Slavic tribes saw the universe and the way it was built. We will trace old Slavic traditions, compare them with the traditions of their neighbors and see how these traditions are still refelected in modern times. Instructor: K. Troshina
