Provides a survey of the archaeology of the Andean region of South America (parts of modern-day Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina). By studying the period from the arrival of the first Americans to the transformation of indigenous societies under Spanish rule, the course will introduce civilizations such as the Moche, Wari, and Inka. The course will also explore the politics and practice of archaeological research in the region today. Enrollment Limit: 25 Instructor: A. Davis
