ARTS 368 - Pompeii

Semester Offered: First Semester
Credits (Range): 3 hours
Attribute: 3HU
Destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79, Pompeii continues to impact the Western imagination. Its ruins offer the best evidence for what life was like in the Roman Empire. Pompeii shapes the way we think about the past as well as of the human condition itself. In this course, we will explore the social, political, and commercial life of the Roman world through the study of Pompeii’s streets, houses, shops, and sanctuaries.
