HIST 477 - Colloquium: US-Asia Wars Semester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 4 Hours Attribute: 4 SS This course examines the US-Asia Wars (the Philippines, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam) through history and memory. We analyze films, memorials, web sites, and other media of memory alongside scholarly historical accounts to understand how historians, governments, and ordinary people construct and contest the past. Topics include imperialism and occupation; prostitution and comfort women; and the atomic bomb and water-boarding. Emphasizes reading and discussion. Enrollment Limit: 12 Instructor: J.
