The course gives a general overview of the South African labor market, its characteristics and problems. Comparison is made with other Southern African countries’ labor markets. It also looks at poverty as one of the socio-economic challenges in South Africa. Factors such as the history of poverty research, definition of poverty, measurement and state of poverty in South Africa are looked at. Enrollment Limit: 40 Instructor: B.
