POLT 317 - Seminar: The Transformation of the Welfare State

This seminar examines the emergence of new, qualitatively different kinds of welfare states across the advanced capitalist world in the past two decades. The seminar is comparative, examining the causes and consequences of the crisis and transformation of the welfare state in Western Europe and North America. Topics will include: welfare and healthcare reform, the feminization of the labor force, and the impact of globalization on welfare states.
