Of the various forms of human activity, what is unique about politics? When and where does it occur, and what does it look like? How is it related to other areas of human endeavor, such as art and science? We will critically investigate concepts of political action and the sites of politics from ancient Greece to the present. Authors will include Plato, Locke, Machiavelli, Marx, William Connolly, and Iris Young.
