CRWR 221 - Artful Prose: the building blocks of style Semester Offered: Second Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU, WINT
This course will focus on the sentence as a building block of prose style. Through discussions of the assigned reading we will examine how syntactic patterns work in examples by well-known writers. In the weekly writing exercises, students will apply what they have learned with an eye toward developing more distinct and resonant prose styles. A portfolio of 30-40 pages, including new and radically revised pieces, is due at finals. Enrollment Limit: 15 Instructor: A.
