We will learn to judge books by their covers. We will immerse ourselves in modernist little magazines. How do we read materially? Working with a combination of digitized and archival materials, we will interpret meanings constructed by features like layouts, frontispieces, fonts, production histories, and material formats. The course will involve archival work in Oberlin’s special collections and we will be getting tangible experience in the Letter Press Studio. Enrollment Limit: 14 Instructor: J.
