In this course, we will explore works by writers whose prose imagines new futures and alternative realities rooted in the African diaspora. Short stories, novel excerpts, flash fiction, and essays by such writers as Hopkinson, Diaz, LaValle, Gay, Danticat, and Marlon James, among others, will help us to develop a narrative voice steeped in the paranormal.
