ARTS 013 - Visual Concepts and Processes: Dichotomy and Lithography

Semester Offered: First Semester
Full Course
Credits: 4 credits
Attribute: 4HU

Oil and water don’t mix; this tension is the premise of lithography. Through the thematic lens of dichotomy, duality, and paradox, this course examines the planographic printing processes of plate lithography. Using hand-drawn, hand-painted, and photographic methods, students develop personal directions for their work through this highly technical and influential form of reproducible media. Class consists of demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and critiques. Students are expected to complete assignments and contextual research outside of class time.
