FYSP 036 - Fictions of Total War: The Siege of Troy to The Walking Dead Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 Credits Attribute: 4 HU, WINT
What is total war? How has fiction imagined and responded to total war? And what do Homer and Shakespeare have to do with aliens and zombies? We will examine how total war has been explored and, in some cases, ethically justified through fiction. And we will think about how fiction-about wars from the Trojan War to World War I and zombie invasions-shapes our thinking in the nonfiction world. Enrollment Limit: 14 Instructor: A.
