The Caribbean island of St. Croix juxtaposes modern and ancient marine depositional systems ranging from shallow coral reefs to deep ocean basins. It sits at a critical juncture of Caribbean plates, providing a record of basin evolution since its Cretaceous opening. This course will provide the background needed to participate in a WT project on St Croix to be sponsored by the Geology Department. Faculty will present formal lectures on reef and island geology plus methods to be used in the field in January.
