ARTS 338 - Topics in Architecture, Modern and Postmodern Semester Offered: Second Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU
This course will provide a broad overview of the history of 20th century architecture, relating key buildings and images of buildings to the historical, scientific, technical, economic, ideological, and aesthetic concepts that they are shaped by. In addition to the work of canonical figures, we will examine examples of the complex modernisms of non-Western cultures, of collective modes of architectural production, and the numerous challenges put to modernism from the 1950’s to today.
