ARTS 387 - Architecture, Media, and Production Semester Offered: Second Semester Full Course Credits: 4 Credits Attribute: 4HU
Robin Evans observed in 1989 that “Architects do not make buildings; they make drawings of buildings.” We can now add that they digitally model, render, and code, they write memos and specifications. This course will examine how changing forms of media and visualization - from pen to processor, from descriptive geometry to parametricism - have transformed modern architecture. We will retrace a history of western architecture from the classical, focusing on modern, postmodern, and contemporary design practices. Enrollment Limit: 30 Instructor: P.
