FYSP 193 - Beyond Disbelief: Can Literature Tell the Truth? Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU, WINT
We know what we believe, but we have a much murkier idea of why we believe it. What, in the literary context, does it mean to say a book, a writer, or a narrator is credible? We say we believe in many kinds of things (concepts, divinities, probabilities, and people) but is the act of believing the same in each case? Special attention given to lyric poetry. Enrollment Limit: 14 Instructor: D. Harrison Consent of the Instructor Required: Yes
