Actions always have consequences. In politics, who is responsible for those consequences, to whom, and why’ How can we hold others responsible and assume our own political responsibilities’ We will critically examine the responsibility of political leaders and other officials; social responsibility, and existential responsibility in political theory and philosophy, as well as their depictions in literature and film. Authors will include Aristotle, Schmitt, Weber, Arendt, Young, and Sartre. Enrollment Limit: 20 Instructor: J. Schiff
