This course examines historical and contemporary US immigration politics and policy from a critical analytic perspective. We cover issues of membership, belonging, and citizenship, and how these ideas change over time. We then examine issues of territoriality and borders, unauthorized immigration, deportation and detention, and refugee/asylum politics. Finally, we delve into contemporary immigration politics and the battle over comprehensive immigration reform. Enrollment Limit: 25 Instructor: K. Miller
