POLT 279 - American Presidency 2016 Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4SS
This course examines the U.S. Presidency in contemporary American politics, with a particular focus on the state of the presidency in 2016. We begin by looking at the founding, as well as different approaches to studying the presidency. We then consider the impact of primary and general elections on the presidency by taking a closer look at the 2016 presidential election. Next, we investigate the powers of the president by considering the constitutional tools of the office, individual leadership styles, and its influence over public opinion and other branches of government.
