ARTS 349 - Art, Politics, Religion in 16th Century Italy Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU, WINT
This course will focus on painting, sculpture, and architecture produced in Europe during the sixteenth century. While taking account of the contribution of individuals such as Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian, we will also consider the art of this period within the broader context of historical, social, and scientific developments. We will conclude with an examination of the art of the next generation, the style known today as Mannerism. Enrollment Limit: 30 Instructor: C. Neilson
