CRWR 340 - Nonfiction Workshop Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU, WADV
The writing of personal narratives which employ the techniques of both the traditional essay and fiction, with an emphasis on nonfiction as a literary art form. Students will read work by modern and contemporary authors with an eye toward understanding the variety of modes which come under the current heading ‘creative nonfiction’ (memoir, meditation, travel, cultural critique, etc.), and will be asked to employ a number of these methods and approaches in their own work. Enrollment Limit: 12 Instructor: B. Matambo Consent of the Instructor Required: Yes Prerequisites & Notes Normally, successful completion of CRWR 201 is a prerequisite for application to this course. In special circumstances individual instructors can accept students without this prerequisite. Please note that CRWR 201 is still required for completion of the Creative Writing major. An application with appropriate work sample are required for admission to this course. Applications should be submitted to the the CrWr Program Office by 12 noon on the last day of classes.
