Do we live in a post-truth world in which emotions and personal beliefs are more important in shaping our opinions than facts or science? We will consider evidence that our decision making has always been susceptible to emotional and personal appeals. Our focus will be on the cognitive mechanisms that constrain our reasoning and thinking in the context of rapidly changing sciences and technologies.
