FYSP 025 - Marie Curie’s Legacy: Radium Girls and Glowing Matter Semester Offered: First Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4NS, WINT
In this course, the history of radium and radioactivity will be a frame through which students explore questions related to gender and science. To investigate these questions we will consider the life and science of Marie Curie, researchers in the Curie lab, and the ‘Radium Girls.’ Students will interact with critical essays, biography and autobiography, scientific reports, archival material, poems, plays, graphic novels, and art objects.
