CINE 377 - Narratology and the Cinema Semester Offered: Second Semester Full Course Credits: 4 credits Attribute: 4HU
This advanced seminar studies the theory and craft of narrative in the cinema from a range of disciplinary approaches. Topics to be investigated include temporality, perspective, causality, affect, suspense, resolution and surprise. Our discussions will connect individual films with both practical and philosophical texts. Finally, we will consider the challenge presented to traditional narrative by the rise of interactive entertainment. Enrollment Limit: 20 Instructor: J.
